Tourist itinerary Valle d’Aosta, Holidays Mountain Alps Monte Bianco Cervino. Valle d’Aosta: a vertical region in a lot of senses: for his high summits (Monte Bianco is the highest mountain in Europe) but also for his extraordinary density of natural, cultural and historical wonders.
In a region with a narrow space there is a vertical urban redevelopment.
Aosta, capital and unique city of the region, is very rich of history and culture. There are visible signs of the ancient Augusta Pretoria (latin Aosta’s name), as the Augusto’s Arch (25 before Christ) or the Roman Theatre’s ruins.
The moyen-age for Aosta was a very rich age: Aosta was an important commerce cross-road with France and Swisse and it had a long period of prosperity and richness.
In this period was builted the Cathedral and the ‘Collegiata di S.Orso’, two beautiful churches.
Downstream of the city there are others medieval monuments: the Fénis Castle and, near Saint-Vincent, a lot of famous casinň and the Issogne Castle, with his richness of wall paintings and architectures.
The valley has a lot of incredible natural scenaries: wonderful Monte Bianco’s summits or the fascinate Cervino Mountain (4478 meters), or the wonderful ‘Monte Rosa’ that take his name by his pink colour in any particular moments. There is the ‘Gran Paradiso’, a high mountain at the natural park’s center.
At last there are famous ski resorts as Courmayer or Breuil-Cervinia.
